5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great set, it's HEAVY though, May 12, 2011

My husband and I are very casual poker players, but we wanted a set that wasn't cheap plastic and had chips with a nice heft and "clink" to them. These chips really deliver especially for the price. They stack beautifully, they have a good weight to them, and they are very satisfying to play with. I like the fact that there are no denominations on them so we can decide for ourselves what they're worth. The case arrived completely encased within Styrofoam and in great condition.

A few warnings about this set though:
It is HEAVY (like, surprisingly heavy) and definitely not something you can just carry around casually.
It will be interesting to see if the case handle holds up to all that weight -- so far so good.
The locks on the case clasps don't actually lock -- this is not a problem for me, but it might be for you.
The cards are kind of flimsy as others have said -- easy to resolve for us.

All in all, I would highly recommend this set!

If your a beginner player or someone that has the occasional game at the house with friends this is a great set to start out with. I say that because its not top of the line clay or similar composite material. The chips feel very light almost lighter than 11.5g but I haven't weighed them yet. They feel good stacked and are very sturdy, though they take some time to warm up as I was shuffling them around it seems they have a little more friction than I thought with how smooth and flat faced they are. All around a great set to play with, the colors are very vibrant and I like the simple sleek design of "Royal". Much nicer than the cheap generic set you can get at Target or Meijer. The cards are cheap obviously, the dice are pretty useless but for specific games and the case is adequate. Its a standard aluminum case with 2 lock and keys on the front. I like the wooden dividers in the case, covered in felt they soften the wear and tear a bit on the chips as you play with them. I... Read more

The argument could be made that these are not the highest quality chips in the world...and they're not...but they're really, really good for the price and for the person looking to buy a set for home games. If you already have a Nexgen set or some clay chips, then this probably isn't the set for you unless you're just looking for a cheap set for some reason. If, like me, you're looking for a solid set of chips with good weight, that stack well, and that look different than most standard poker chip designs that everyone else is selling, then this set fits the bill. For me, I was looking for a set for home games of 6 to 10 people. I have to add in a few blues from a random assortment of chips to fill the full 10, but that's about it. I do wish that they skipped the black chips and added another 50 blue, but that's not really too big of a deal. I found a few minor things on some of the chips, an injection spot here, a discoloration there, but again for $40 that's to be expected. I... Read more
